A major port city built where the great Vodun River flows out to the coast, Korfu is the export of Oyo’s lucrative salt trade, but the city is not just a single good exporter. Here the wealth of a great empire flows up and down the river: ivory, incense, and silver all travel down the river, but the trade is tightly state operated and the goods that travel up river are kept closely guarded and under cover. The goods arrive in crates from Oyo merchant navy ships and are loaded directly into the elephant hauled barges upriver. Now the trade is threatened by the encroaching Mire and its terrible fungoid beasts. As desert villages disappear one by one, hordes of refugees flee to Korfu and Elmina seeking aid.
